Elise Turns 6

Six whole years...wow, seems hard to believe we've been parents for that long.  We can vaguely remember going to actual movie theatres to see new releases, sleeping in til noon on the weekends and going wherever our whims took us.  How things have changed and here we are, celebrating our daughter's 6th birthday.  While Elise hasn't been our "baby" in a while, she'll always be our baby.  Her independence grows by the day and she makes us want to be better people and parents.

In honor of her birthday, here are a few things about our Elise:
She observes more than she does.
She is a perfectionist and doesn't like to make mistakes.
She experiments with new foods and will try anything once.
She is extremely loving and caring.
She is easy to convince and persuade (not a good thing when she's a teenager).
She is goofy and makes nonsensical jokes.
She is not grumpy in the morning even if Ava wakes her up too early.
She gets attached to things very easily.
She is friendly and trusting (again not a good teenager trait).
She has very little self-awareness and doesn't notice if her hair is a mess or her socks are pulled over her pants.
She is 42" (3 percentile) and 36 lbs. (3 percentile)
She doesn't care about clothes or what she wears.
She can fall asleep on a dime, anywhere.
She has an impressive memory and an eye for detail.
She can boogie like nobody's business.
She is our first-born and first love.

Happy Birthday Elise.  We love you for everything you are and everything you will be.

Getting her hearing tested

Checking to see if she is as near-sighted as her parents - perfect vision so far
