Elise's First Week of School

The big day arrived last Monday when Elise started summer school at Centennial Montessori. With a packed lunch and extra change of clothes, Mom escorted Elise into her classroom and met her teachers. She was quickly fascinated with the other kids and new surroundings. After a quick kiss and hug from Mom, Elise took teacher Trisha's hand and didn't even look back. The rest of the day went very well and when we picked her up in the afternoon, she was having a ball watering plants in the garden. In fact, she put up quite a fuss when it was time to go. The next day, saying goodbye didn't go as smoothly. Probably realizing that school was more than just a novelty, Elise cried during our morning goodbyes and one could hear her screaming "DA-DA!!!!" from the yard. We were warned that this might happen and only time will make going to school just like every other normal routine in Elise's life.

Sean's Visitors

In a matter of hours, our Sean was showered with so much love by so many people. Family and friends descended 0n our little hospital room to welcome Sean. We are sooooo lucky to have so many people to share this beautiful event with and to be surrounded by supportive friends and family.

Elise's Brother Arrives

We knew he was coming any day now but when the big moment arrived, it still took us by surprise. Early Saturday morning, the signs were unquestionable and yet it took us a while to comprehend that our second born was coming. The contractions began around midnight on Saturday and about 2:00am, we headed to the hospital. Even though it was our second time around the block, time has made us forget what it was like. We were constantly told that it would be easier this time around but it certainly didn't feel easier. Thankfully, drugs were invented and Mom got the relief she needed around 4:30am. Labor was progressing quickly but Baby Sean was in distress whenever Mom was laying on her side. The only position that seemed to satisfy him was when Mom was on all fours. So for over 2 hours, Mom was on her hands and knees and it stayed that way until she delivered Sean at 8:14am. Compared to Elise's 27 hour birth, Sean's was easier and even pushing him out wasn't so bad. I guess the body doesn't forget even if our minds sometimes do.
